Hi Karina Works It Out Readers,
If you still exist that is....sorry for my hiatus. I have been busy chasing down stories -- sad ones, local angles on a story that made international headlines; another about lucrative payouts...I even covered a local election and frequently write about prostitution. Yes, you read that right!
In other news, my beautiful godchild, London Nichelle, recently turned 1. And I am also planning a wedding for next summer (2011).
Regardless of all that I have going on, I still want to be healthy and active, but I have had a big hurdle in the last couple of months--namely, I have not been able to run yet. Well, I did get medical clearance, but sadly, will need a second opinion. This has me quite discouraged in the exercise department. I feel quite sluggish lately, to tell you the truth.
I was telling Taj last night that I think I've been staying away because I feel like a real poser, writing about exercise when I haven't been doing it as much. BUT, I want to. Taj is going to help me get my act together, and hopefully you will too! The plan for now is to get into a routine that includes light cardio (biking, walking, elliptical machine) and strength training (weights, yoga/Pilates) at least three times a week.
Yesterday I hit up the Fort Greene Crunch for a quick workout (10 mins elliptical, 5 mins stairmaster, 12x2 bicep curls, 15x2 dumbbell rows, 12 x2 lunges, and a few ab exercises.) It felt great!
So anyway, I have missed you guys, but I am back.
What have you been up to? Please share your latest exercise adventures!
Love,
Karina

welcome back! let's see....this summer i've been adding sand volleyball into the routine...I've been playing every Tuesday night with a bunch of people. It's hard to move around in sand! GREAT on the quads!
ReplyDeleteI'm finding it hard to get motivated to run outside now though. I live in Texas, so it's BLAZING hot!! I'm a member of a gym, so I need to get some good workouts for the treadmill and stairclimber...that way I can stay inside!
I've decided to run a 10K in November and I've started the couch to 5K training program to get me started. I am NOT a runner so I'm taking it slow and steady.
